Public Sector (Data Sharing) Act 2016

The Public Sector (Data Sharing) Act 2016 provides a framework for the sharing of information by State Government agencies.

This Act is administered by the Office for Data Analytics.

 

Information Sharing Guidelines

The Information Sharing Guidelines are designed to give providers of services to children, young people and adults, confidence in sharing information when required to prevent harm or respond to current threats to safety and wellbeing.

Online Training

Ombudsman SA has developed two training modules designed to give staff the appropriate knowledge in the use of the Information Sharing Guidelines.

Information Sharing Guidelines for Promoting Safety and Wellbeing Induction for Staff and Supervisors (45 minutes)

 

Information Privacy Principle Exemptions

If an agency needs to share information but it is outside of the Public Sector (Data Sharing) Act 2016, Information Sharing Guidelines and the sharing may breach the Information Privacy Principles Instruction an application can be made to the Privacy Committee for an exemption from relevant principles.

Agencies should contact the Privacy Committee's Executive Officer  to discuss the exemption process.
