Records transferred to State Records should be complete, inactive and no longer required by the agency.
However, if needed, records can be viewed, copied or temporarily loaned for reference purposes by the responsible agency.
Options for agencies to access records in the archives are:
- view records in the Research Centre, for free (including openly accessible records of other agencies)
- receive a digital copy of a record, for a fee
- request a temporary loan of records which were created by their agency or its predecessors, subject to conditions imposed by the Director of State Records, for a fee.
To access records created by other agencies, contact that agency directly for a copy (original records must not be moved between agencies).
The loan request service is subject to State Records’ regulated fees and charges.
